Doug Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE is a full service architectural firm. The principal, Doug Harr, brings over twenty five years of experience to Western Slope Colorado. He owned and operated a design/build construction firm, Harr Construction, located in Grand Junction, from 1980 to 1984, where he built luxury homes. Mr. Harr then moved on to an award winning architectural firm in Fort Worth Texas. There, working in a busy and successful office, he was exposed to many interesting challenges with large-scale projects, including Fort Worth’s downtown plan, skyscrapers, and massive liturgical and educational complexes. In 1991 Doug joined C.F. Brenner Inc. in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Two years later they created the firm Brenner Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE that enjoyed several years of success in the valley. In January 2000 Doug became sole proprietor and the firm name changed to Doug Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE. The company then added General Contracting/ Construction Management, under Harr Construction, to its services, which include Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture. Doug Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE is a professional corporation. Though general contracting is a service that is provided, most of the work is on the firm’s speculation projects. We have done some client building, but it has been in emergency or special cases, in both commercial and residential projects. The big advantage to our clients is the thorough understanding of local construction practices and costs. We also have on staff a Master Gardner and we are excited to be doing complete landscaping to accompany our built projects, especially the luxury homes. We are strong believers in adaptive reuse projects, our first job as architect/contractor in Glenwood was a complete overhaul of a building that had been a car dealership in the ‘50s, in the core of downtown, into 23,000 square feet of contemporary offices. Doug Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE projects incorporate a team approach with the project architect and other personnel to assist with their particular expertise, discussing problems and solutions as needed. The number of personnel in our firm has ranged from two to six. We believe in a small office, with every project led by the principal, to create a highly personal client/ architect relationship. The inter-office team also includes structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, lighting design, technological/security design, cost estimating, and sustainable design consultants, all proficient in Computer Aided Design. The firm is completely versed in the American Disabilities Act requirements. With CAD and our team approach, projects, both large and small, are handled efficiently in a timely manner and provide for all available technology. With this core team the firm works as the client’s representative creating a larger team with government officials, contractors, and adjacent property owners, working together from inception to occupancy in order to address the very specific needs of each client. This team approach has resulted in the completion of many successful projects, as demonstrated by the number of repeat clients serviced since our inception in 1993. We also protect our clients with liability insurance coverage for errors or omissions and each of our consultants are required to be covered as well. With close attention to detail our firm has had continuous coverage without ever having filed a claim. Doug Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE has built its reputation on dedication to architecture of the highest quality with a focus on client service and design excellence. The firm does a variety of building types including churches, educational, commercial, hospitality, and residential. We handle a wide spectrum of sizes and architectural styles, with our houses including traditional, classic, contemporary, log, and craftsman. The variety of styles stems directly form the variety of clients, we listen and respond to their needs and desires. Located in Glenwood Springs, we are central to our work on the Western Slope. Most of our work is between Vail, Aspen, and Grand Junction where immediate interaction between all participants involved in the building process can be effectively accomplished. A project under construction has first priority, if a problem arises or changes are suggested, we are quickly at the site to resolve the issue. At the same time, Computer Aided Design and the Internet also facilitates communication with consultants, contractors, and clients, whether they are a few miles away or on the other side of the globe. In a matter of seconds we can transfer full sets of drawings to an engineer or receive a picture pointing at a construction condition from one of our job sites. Doug Harr P.C. ARCHITECTURE is a stable business that has been in business in Glenwood Springs Colorado for twelve years. Doug actually decided to move to Glenwood to set up his practice when he graduated Durango High School in 1970. It took a few years to get here but we are here to stay. All personnel are deeply involved in this community and firmly believe that this is the greatest place to live in the entire world.
